Judge the work, not the tool

AIwritingengineering

People keep trying to detect AI-written text. I don't see the point. Judge the ideas. Check the claims. Read the work.

I wrote this for the brief: “I don’t really see the point.” AI could make it clearer: “Judge the work, not whether AI helped write it.” Same idea. Better sentence. I want the better sentence.

Compare like with like

Take two high-performing engineering teams in North America. Same size and skill. Same budget. Same deadline. Same goal. One can use AI. The other cannot. I expect the first team to build a better product. AI gives them more chances to test ideas and improve the result. It does not replace judgment.

Don't compare five people using AI for three months with 500 people building a product over decades. That measures different resources and different amounts of time. It does not isolate the effect of AI.

From what I've seen, strong software teams want to use AI. It helps them make better products. That seems to be the current consensus among the teams I know. It is an observation, not a universal rule.

My work, my words

Every idea on this blog is mine. I tell AI what I want to say. We work through the structure and wording together. I do not ask it to invent an article for me. I reject anything I cannot stand behind.

AI assisted with 100% of this article. The ideas are 100% mine. I claim every word I publish. I also take responsibility for every claim. AI helps me make the work better. It does not own the work.
